B5G/6G & Machine Learning:
How they complement each other
Professor Dr. Rosdiadee Nordin, Dr Mehran Behjati
Department of Electrical, Electronic & Systems Engineering,
Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia
Tutorial Abstract
The ultimate goal of this tutorial is to provide participants with an introduction and clear understanding of (i) Machine Learning (ML), (ii) its right applications in Wireless Communications (WC), as a tool to address technical challenges in B5G & 6G, and (iii) how WC can address some of the existing challenges of ML. Hence, the tutorial will help participants to select suitable topics for their future research and/or direct their current research toward the hot topics.
Speakers Biography
Professor Dr. Rosdiadee Nordin
Professor Dr. Rosdiadee Nordin is currently a Professor of Electrical, Electronic & Systems Engineering at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Earlier, he graduated with a B.Eng. in Electrical. Electronic & Systems Engineering from UKM (2001) and then became an engineer in Malaysia’s telecommunication industry for almost five years. He later pursued his Ph.D. on wireless engineering at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom (2010). He is a Senior Member of IEEE.

Throughput and fairness trade-off in NOMA system for 5G/6G seamless connection wireless communications and networking
Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mardeni Roselee
Centre for Wireless Technology,
Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University
Tutorial Abstract
In this workshop, the participants will learn more about NOMA technologies which allow signal interference cancelation (SIC) at one of the receiving ends to mitigate the interference between the multiplexed users. NOMA technologies have enormous potential advantages in providing a low latency, supporting more devices, allowing massive connectivity also providing throughput user’s fairness.
The participants will learn practically about the PSO algorithm which is designed to obtain the optimal power solution in the NOMA system. The participants will have opportunity to practically use Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) and design a hybrid resource allocation scheme (ILPSO) in order to optimize the resource allocation and to achieve trade-offs between throughput maximization and system fairness in the downlink NOMA system-based 5G network.
At the end of the program, participants will familiarize themselves more with the algorithm and USRP device which can satisfy the throughput maximization and fairness for the future NOMA system-based 5G/6G network.
